What is an overview of Exchange?
Microsoft Exchange is an email server that is used by over 50% of businesses in the United States. The reason for its popularity is that Exchange is very scalable, secure, reliable, and functional. Exchange allows your employees to collaborate as a team and share contacts, calendars, email, and tasks. Additionally, Exchange allows you to use as many computers as you would like...and the information in Outlook is the same on every one! The Message Center Exchange service allows you to plug in different methods of mobile access to retrieve your information from your mobile device. Your information everywhere, anytime, anyway.

How is Exchange different than a POP3 server?
POP3 only caters to email and not contacts, calendars, or tasks. That means that although you are able receive email on your computer, all the contacts, calendars, and tasks are stored locally. If your hard drive crashes or if a virus wipes out your data...you lose everything. With Exchange, since a mirror copy is stored on the Exchange server, are you are to check your information from several locations at anytime.

What is needed to get Exchange service started?
In order to have hosted Exchange with The Message Center, you will need a domain that you own (or at least are able to control the MX records). If you do not own a domain we recommend that you purchase one at godaddy.com (usually about $10). Once you have a domain, click the Sign Up Today link on every page, fill in the form, and you will receive a Welcome Letter with the migration steps.

Will Outlook look any different?
Outlook will look exactly the way it does without Exchange (it is similar to switching from a DSL service to a cable modem).

Can I use more than one Outlook client on my account?
Absolutely! You are able to have as many Outlook clients as you would like and every one will be synchronized automatically and always be up to date!

Will we lose any email during the migration to The Message Center ?
We have a method of migrating from your current server (either Exchange or POP) that will ensure you never miss one email.

Can I have access to Active Directory?
Due to security reasons (which we hope you understand and agree with) The Message Center will not allow anyone outside of TMC senior engineers to have access to the Active Directory database.

How do I alter the mailbox for each employee (i.e. add mailbox space)?
The Message Center provides a fully automated web based Control Panel that is accessible from any web browser any time. This enables you to add/remove/edit users and mailbox size, add/remove aliases/distribution lists, forwarding, and much more.

Is SalesForce or Act! compatible with Exchange?
Both SalesForce and Act! have Outlook plug-ins. Basically, if the information is in Outlook it will be in Exchange!

Can I add/remove GoodLink and/or BlackBerry service anytime?
The Message Center is the first and ONLY hosted Exchange provider to have a fully automated provisioning systems for both GoodLink and BlackBerry service. This means that you are able to instantly activate or de-activate the desired service for the desired users instantly through the web based Control Panel anytime!

How many people can have administrator privileges in the Control Panel?
The Control Panel allows you to assign admin privs to as many people as you would like. In the users profile, simply check the box that says "grant admin privileges". That's it!

Does Exchange allow us to share information?
Absolutely! With Full Access accounts you are able to share contacts, calendars, emails, and tasks with your team.

Is migrating to The Message Center difficult?
We provide easy step by step directions that will allow you complete the entire process by yourself...and...if you need assistance our team is here 24x7 to help!

Can I mix and match the different access levels within my company?
Yes! The Message Center is the only Exchange hosting company that allows you to control the different levels of access to each of your employees. That means that you are able to give the principles/executives of your company Full Access and the other employees can have Web Access...which will save you money!

Is the connection secure?
The Message Center has binded a digital certificate to the connection that allows a full SSL connection (the same encryption used for online banking) from Outlook to the server. this is even more secure than having the server in your own building!
