What is Secure Messaging?
Secure Messaging is a filter built into The Message Center network that scans every email for specific terms or formats. If there is an email sent that contains sensitive information, the email is automatically moved to a secure section of the sever and a link is emailed to the intended recipient to view and respond to the message through a secure browser connection...thus the secure message never leaves the network in clear text over the internet. This allows your organization to function "as usual" while automatically filtering every email filtered for secure information.
What is needed for Secure Messaging to work?
You will need hosted email service with The Message Center. If you already have email hosted with The Message Center, all that is needed is to make the request to have Secure Messaging turned on for your domain...and it is on!
Can I have Secure Messaging without hosting my email with The Message Center? What if we already have an Exchange server in-house?
Due to security reasons, the Exchange server must be on the same network as the Secure Messaging filter. The great news is that we at The Message Center believe that you will have much more functionality, security, and stability with your email hosted by The Message Center.
Can only specific people on my team use Secure Messaging?
Secure Messaging rules apply to the entire domain and everyone that has an email on that domain.
What is the learning curve for Secure Messaging?
Since Secure Messaging is completely at the gateway level...there is NO LEARNING CURVE! No client software to install and maintain. It is an instantaneous feature to turn on and it works.
How secure is Secure Messaging?
Consider this: your team is connected to The Message Center network via RPC over HTTPS (using Outlook) or HTTPS (using OWA) which means that your connection is as secure as the connection that you use for online banking. The sent email (from your employee) is quarantined to a secure server and a link to the message is sent to the intended recipient. When the recipient clicks on the link, the message is viewed in a web browser over a SSL connection. This means that your message never leaves the network in clear text!
